Custom-built by ATSF in 1975, a total of 500 BX-177 boxcars were built at Santa Fe's car shops in Topeka, KS. Measuring 61'6" in length (66' 1/2" over the strikers), this icon of beer transportation has proven invaluable to the Santa Fe and then the BNSF. With over 40 years in service plus paint schemes between Santa Fe and BNSF, these boxcars are still serving major breweries with pride.
